Do It Yourself Toilet Installation

In case your toilet is damaged or has incurred some problem then it is advised to replace it with a new one. Installing a new toilet is not a cumbersome job and can be done in an afternoon. Along with many toilets you will get gaskets, washers and hardware for fitting the tank to the bowl.

After this, use crescent wrench to loosen two 1/4″ nuts which connect the bowl to the floor flange. Once the nuts get loosened, you can easily remove your old toilet and start installing the new one.

Place these two 1/4″ bolts at the side holes of the flange and bolt head in the flange. Apply old wax around these bolts and spot to keep the bolts straight. After this, place the new wax ring on flange.

The new bowl should be set straight so that it fix over the wax ring and both the bolts are at right location to hold the bowl well. Properly tight the nuts but take care that you do not over tight it as the bowl may crack in doing so. After the complete installation of toilet, you need to tight the nuts once again.

Now place 2″ rubber gasket on tank at a place where it rest on the bowl. Take the tank and fix the bowl over holes in bowl where bolts could be tightened. Fix the bolts from inner side of the tank and tighten all the nuts.

With the help of a large screw driver and a crescent wrench or end wrench tight all the nuts under bowl. Turn on the water supply again and check if the toilet is leaking or not. If everything is fine then the installation is successfully completed.
